Recently a report has come in The Daily Mail that the potential transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo (24-year-old) from the Manchester United to Real Madrid has hit a snag. He is expected to join Los Blancos in a deal worth €94 million (£80m).
We all know that being a 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year he is set to earn €11.7m (£10m) each year in wages - around €234,000-a-week (£200,000), but it seems that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is still negotiating his image rights.
It has been also claimed that Los Blancos hopes of taking a 50% cut of the Portugal international’s image rights because they are said to have agreed with Kaka.
Well! It is thought that the representative of Ronaldo is reluctant to share the earnings from deals with the likes of Nike and Banco Espirito Santo.
It is also being thought of that an accord will be reached between the two parties, with Madrid president Florentino Perez assuring Ronaldo that he may expect minimum of a further €3.2m (£2.75m) if he agrees to take up their option.
i still love madrid
