Rafa Benitez, the Liverpool manager believes that the 4-goal demolitions of both Real Madrid and Manchester United over the past week proves that his side may win the title of Premier League.
Real Madrid has been crushed by 4-0 in midweek for a 5-0 aggregate victory in the Champions League and then also hammered Manchester United 4-1 on Saturday, the players and coaches of Liverpool now believe they can end the club’s 19-year wait for the league title.
Benitez said to the media after Saturday’s rout, “If we can beat (Manchester United and Real Madrid), we can beat anybody.” He also added, “Realistically, we have to win all of our games now, but part of winning the war is winning football matches.”
In much of the first half of the season, the Reds was the toppers. But yes, the poor results against meager opposition, despite executing league doubles over United and Chelsea, damaged their title chances.
