Ruud van Nistelrooy, after recovery from the knee injury, now believes that it has given him the confidence to stick for playing time at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid spent around 250 million euros (C$393 million) to revamp the team. It bought Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, 33-year-old, is now confident that he can break into the coach Manuel Pellegrini’s lineup even with Gonzalo Higuain and captain Raul Gonzalez ahead in the pecking order.
He had said recently to media, “The easiest thing for me to have done would have been to leave for a lesser team. But I’m not going to leave Real Madrid…. I want to know what I’m capable of. There are still a lot of options when it comes to playing.”
He said that it was only a matter of time before he was getting back to good form. He also added that he knew that he can play at the highest level and at present he is physically feeling better.
Since November 2008 Van Nistelrooy had been sidelined by knee surgery. He had scored 60 goals in 89 appearances and also won 2 league trophies since he joined from Manchester United in 2006. He was also announced as the Spanish league’s leading scorer during the 2006-07 season.
